Students liked the fact that they received instant feedback after completing the quiz. Edmodo showed them their incorrect answers and what they should have been. They were not worried about how well they did, the experience was just awesome. The poll was interesting as it allowed them to explain why they voted for something. See below a snapshot of the poll and a few explanations.
As we got comfortable navigating the edmodo website, students discovered there was more we could do than just posting and replying. I heard "we can take a quiz or a poll!". Students had a surprise the next time they were in the computer lab. They had two notifications, they were to take a quiz and a poll.

Kindergarten students discussed the different kinds of computers we use and those they have seen people use in school and at home. We came up with a laptop, a (desktop) computer and a (tablet) galaxy tab, iPhone or iPad. We named the people we saw using these computers and then colored them in using different crayons. Later we had to see how many different kinds of computers we could remember and their special names. Year 5 students explored storytelling using Storybird a digital story creating website. Students had to use limited themed artwork that could be related to their stories. Stories was about a city of their choice and students and one of the expectations was to write about how the city has changed over time. Interesting facts about cities were discussed in class giving us content for the stories. We enjoyed sharing stories with teachers via e-mail and read our stories to other classes. The younger students enjoyed our stories. Below is one of our story books, enjoy flipping through all pages.
