A teacher shared their experience using comic strips with their French classes. We began to brainstorm possible applications in other classrooms and subjects. Later, teachers were engaged in a fun practical session creating comic strips and discovering how students can submit their work. Here is what one of the teachers made for their class blog afterwards. I am looking forward to seeing comic strips created by students in classrooms. Teachers shared their skills on inserting pictures, collages and videos to celebrate student learning on their class blogs. Mindmeister, a free iPad app to create mind-maps with students. Create a mind-map and invite students to edit. Students can work on different research topic linked to one idea and show their findings or ideas in the form of text notes, images and YouTube videos. I like the text notes because they discourage copy and paste, students will have to summarise their findings. Students can work on different locations (as homework or in-class) and can go an read others' findings afterwards. A link can be posted on edmodo or on class blogs (upper primary) to allow access. Students can work both on the computer at www.mindmeister.com or use the iPad app.
One limitation is that a free account on Mindmeister limits you to 3 mind-maps. If you want more you would have to export a mind-map as an image then delete it from Mindmeister. Mindmeister also has a reward program where if you invite your students, you receive one free mind-map for each student that signs up. |
